LJ ROTARIANS GATHER FOR "WORK DAY"
La Jolla Rotarians rallied last week for the annual "Rotarians At Work Day." The event this year was held simultaneously worldwide and involved 75,000 Rotarians, 3,500 of whom were from 60 San Diego Rotary clubs.
Almost 50 volunteers from the La Jolla Rotary Club, including 11 Rotary Interact La Jolla High School students, painted the interior of The Riford Center on April 25. The volunteer effort was headed up by Rotarians Michael Morton of Marengo Morton Architects and Pancho Dewhurst of GDC.
Also on April 25, La Jolla Sunrise Rotary joined clubs from Coronado, Rancho Santa Fe, the Friends of San Pasqual Academy and University of Michigan alumni at San Pasqual Academy. They planted fruit trees, put in peppers and tomatoes, cleared out lots of weeds, and picked fresh strawberries and built seedling frames at the school for foster youths.
Earlier in the week, Torrey Pines Rotary club members spent Arbor Day on April 23 planting trees at Balboa Park.
