Cape Cod Classic with a California Twist

CLIENT NEED

The family wanted to bring Cape Cod charm to La Jolla, while also incorporating modern twists on the classic Cape Cod design. In addition to building a custom home from scratch, an important element of this project was creating a structure that was harmonious with the vision of Los Angeles interior design firm Amber Interiors, who worked hand-in-hand with GDC from the outset.

OUR SOLUTION

Constant communication was essential in bringing this project to completion. The slight bohemian vibe envisioned by Amber for the interior of the home was complemented by the clean lines and classic elegance of a Cape Cod-style design for the exterior. Three types of wooden siding, a metal standing-seam roof and a beautiful hardwood deck complement the simple white finish of the exterior. Inside, every room showcases traditional crafts with modern flourishes, from the tongue and groove paneling to the large-plank oil-finished hardwood floors.
